Barrel Fuel Design

Summary

I was brought on to the team as a contract UI Designer on the Barrel Fuel Technologies website and subsequently their application for a 1 year contract. I strictly worked on the UI in this case which was a first for me. If I could have my way I would have done UX work as well.

Problem

The stakeholders and in this case the founders were not happy with how the first iteration of the website looked and felt. They wanted to elevate the feeling of luxury.

Audience

Our audience consists of those who own or operate private planes. This means owners, pilots, and fixed based operators (FBOs are locations that fuel, garage, and rent airplanes)

Solution

I took over the design of the site to give it a more luxurious feel and used UX principles to enhance the user's experience within the site. This work had to be done on my own time but I am happy I took the time to do it.

Final Thoughts

This was a challenging project, this was my first time working in a startup environment and working with 3 main stakeholders who all brought different insights to the table. I did my best to navigate and balance the user's needs with the needs of the stakeholders. Things I would change include that I would push even harder for the ability for more UX work to be done.
